World Premiere: Lasermonks

Update (10/11/11): Unfortunately, Lasermonks is no longer in business.

Happy new year, dear readers.  It’s 2011 already, and I can tell it’s going to be a big year.

I figured we ought to kick things off right. So, with Greg and Bob’s permission of course, I decided that the first post of 2011 will also be the world-premiere of a brand new 90-second Why Didn’t I Think of That? audio story.

In addition to the stories available for listening on our website, we’ve got a host of new WDITOT stories that will be premiering here on the Think of That blog in the coming weeks. So here it goes:

Perhaps you’ve heard of Laser Cats? Well this is Lasermonks: the only website where you can order an inexpensive replacement for your printer ink, and also request a prayer.

Fr. Bernard McCoy, CEO of Lasermonks.com

Like so many of our stories, this tale begins with a phrase commonly uttered by a budding entrepreneur: “There must be a better way.”

After moving into a Wisconsin monastery, Father Bernard McCoy had to find a way to keep the struggling abbey going and support its charitable organizations. While researching ways to bring in money, he printed out so much research that his PC printer ran out of ink. While looking for a replacement toner cartridge, he couldn’t believe how overpriced they all were. “There must be a better way,” he said. That little moment of frustration would end up being a saving grace for his monastery, and the result, Lasermonks.com, has left the rest of us asking, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

Without further ado, here’s the brand new WDITOT story: Lasermonks.
